Jo Taranto is a Sydney-based sustainability educator and speaker. Her skill is dissecting sustainability trends and insights from science and industry. From unpacking the lessons from nature-based research and behavioural science, Jo creates a comfortable space for conversations and insights to develop. Your audiences will leave with a renewed enthusiasm to lean into the disruption of a decarbonised and circular future.
Jo has just launched her new keynote, “A Year of Living Neighbourly."
2022 was one of the toughest of Jo’s life. Recovering from the big ones; divorce, death and politics; Jo felt very much alone. She took up the challenge the only way she knew how, by trying to be a better neighbour.
What results is an allegory for taking action on any wicked problem, often with humorous results. From knowing who to look to, (and trust) and where to go to start to make a change, ‘A Year of Living Neighbourly’ is exactly what we need, right now.
Jo’s story unpacks belonging and provokes action on the greatest existential crisis of our time, a changing climate.
“She made me think about how I approach problems and if I’m actually waiting for someone else to fix them for me.”
"The talk made me feel the same way the movie ‘Happy Feet’ made me feel.”
“She speaks with a vulnerability and conviction which makes her accessible yet powerful.”
As a presenter on Planet Shapers, Jo tells the stories of those who are innovating, adapting, and changing the way we live and work.
Sustainability touches on every aspect of our lives ... energy, food, water, waste, technology, social. In this age of heightened sustainability awareness, many companies are moving to have a positive impact on the world.
These are the stories that consumers want to hear and we tell these stories. Planet Shapers is all about inspiring customers to buy the change they want to see in the world.
